Varanasi is the city located on the west bank on the Ganga River in India. The city is also called Banaras or Benares. It is scared to Hindus and one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. It was a religious and cultural center in northern India for thousands of years. The city is a pilgrimage site for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains.
